About VisitMachuPicchu.com

An independent guide to one of the world’s great sights, written to make a complicated visit simple.

VisitMachuPicchu.com exists because visiting Machu Picchu has become complicated: circuits, time slots, two train companies, a bus, permits. It is an independent travel guide — not the official ticket office and not a tour operator — written to help you understand the choices before you spend money.

What we cover

  • How the circuits and tickets work, and which to choose.
  • Trains, the bus from Aguas Calientes and the budget route.
  • The Inca Trail and the alternative treks.
  • Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly.
  • Where to sleep in Aguas Calientes, Ollantaytambo and Cusco, and when to go.

How we research

Practical details are checked against official sources, transport companies and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide; hotel scores from Trip.com. The rules for Machu Picchu change often, so where a figure moves around — ticket prices, daily limits, season dates — we say “around” or “recently” and point you to the official source rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.

How the site is funded

We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and link to Trip.com for accommodation. If you book through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. There is no advertising and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
